Route Day By Day:
Day 0: Arrival in Kathmandu
“First Steps into the Sacred Valley”

A gentle landing in Nepal
Day 0: Arrival in Kathmandu – Welcome at Boudhanath
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our team will be waiting to greet you with a warm welcome. From there, we’ll make our way to Boudhanath, one of the most sacred and atmospheric places in the entire Himalayan region — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and spiritual heart of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal.
Our hotel is nestled just a short walk from the great Boudhanath Stupa, a colossal white dome surrounded by prayer wheels, monks in maroon robes, and the scent of juniper incense. It's the perfect setting to begin your journey — peaceful, inspiring, and steeped in ancient energy.
You'll have some free time to rest after your flight, explore the stupa’s circular path alongside pilgrims, or sip tea from a rooftop café with views over the golden eyes of Buddha gazing in all directions.
In the late afternoon, we’ll gather for a welcome briefing: we’ll answer any questions, share the excitement of the road ahead, and walk through the key stages of our adventure together.
The day will close with a group dinner in a warm, relaxed setting, celebrating the start of a journey that promises to be far more than just travel — a deep dive into culture, landscape, and spirit.
Day 1: From Boudhanath to Budhanilkantha – First Encounter with the Motorbikes
After breakfast at Boudhanath, we’ll check out and head north toward Budhanilkantha, a peaceful area nestled at the base of the Shivapuri hills. There, we’ll settle into Samadhi House or the corresponding hotel for the night.
Today marks a key turning point in our adventure: the first meeting with our travel companions — the Royal Enfield Himalayan motorbikes. Our technical team will be waiting with everything ready for us to get acquainted with the bikes, go over basic safety checks, and make any needed adjustments.
We’ll enjoy a group lunch in the area, and in the afternoon, we’ll take the bikes for a short test ride through the scenic backroads of Budhanilkantha. This warm-up ride is the perfect chance to get familiar with the motorcycles and ease into the spirit of the journey.

Day 2: Heading to Nuwakot
“Curves of the Ancients”

From the quiet hills of Budhanilkantha to the royal stronghold of Nuwakot, through terraces, forests, and winding mountain roads.
Day 2: Heading to Nuwakot – First Curves and Landscapes of the Lower Himalayas
We’ll start the day with breakfast at Samadhi House or the nearby group hotel, surrounded by the calm hills of Budhanilkantha. It’s time to gather energy, check our gear, and officially begin the journey: we leave the Kathmandu Valley behind and ride toward the mountains.
Our destination is Nuwakot, a historic hilltop village once used as a royal stronghold, full of charm and ancient architecture. We’ll spend the night at the rustic and welcoming Hotel. The ride there takes around 4 to 5 hours, depending on road conditions and the group’s pace.
The Route:
We begin on secondary roads that pass through small villages, rice fields, and cultivated terraces. Soon, the city noise fades as the road begins to climb into the hills. The first real riding challenges appear: uneven asphalt, stretches of compact dirt, and occasional steep turns.
While the route is not technically demanding, it does require focus—especially on descents and tight curves. Traffic is light, allowing us to ride freely and enjoy the surroundings.
Along the Way:
- Subtropical forests and layered farmlands
- Scenic views of the Trishuli River and endless hills
- Quiet rural roads with friendly greetings from locals
- Natural stops for photos, local tea, or simply to breathe
Once we arrive at Hotel, we’ll be welcomed by its rustic charm—perfect for resting after this first day on the road. A homemade meal and peaceful evening in the countryside will close the day.
Day 3: Beyond the Mountains – Journey to the Hidden Lake
“Highway in the Sky”
Riding into the wild silence of Dhap Lake, where the road becomes poetry and the sky draws near.
Day 3: Beyond the Mountains – Journey to the Hidden Lake
We wake up to the stillness of the countryside, in a beautifully restored farmhouse surrounded by hills and blooming gardens. After a delicious breakfast with views over the valley slopes, we prepare for one of the most memorable stages of our journey: the ride toward Dhap Lake, a secluded gem tucked away in the lower Himalayas.
Today’s ride will take us around 5 to 6 hours, following the breathtaking Pushpalal Highway—also known as the "highway in the sky"—a scenic mountain route that winds through remote villages, dramatic ridgelines, and landscapes of untouched beauty. As we climb higher, the air grows cooler and the world becomes quieter.
The Route:
From the hills of Nuwakot we descend toward Betrawati, then begin the gradual climb eastward. The asphalt gradually gives way to gravel, dirt, and rocky tracks, with tight curves and demanding uphill stretches. Along the Pushpalal Highway, we pass through villages like Mailung, Kalikasthan, and Thade, where life moves at the rhythm of the mountains.
The ride requires focus, but every turn is rewarded with awe: waterfalls, suspension bridges, terraced fields, prayer flags, and deep, sacred silence.
What awaits along the way:
- Villages suspended between misty hills
- Pine forests, rhododendrons, and vast Himalayan views
- A growing sense of altitude and isolation
- Occasional encounters with farmers, herders, or yaks
By late afternoon, we reach the peaceful Dhap Lake, on the edge of Gaurishankar National Park. We’ll stay in a high-quality mountain lodge, where cozy rooms with open views invite rest and reflection. The peaceful gardens are perfect for a sunrise breakfast or a sunset dinner, and we’ll enjoy a homemade dinner with a choice of Nepali or Western cuisine.
A day of real riding, real silence, and a sky full of stars to end it.

Day 4: The Sacred Heights

“Ama Yangri: Ascent to the Heart of the Sky”
From the still waters of Dhap Lake to Yolmo’s spiritual summit and the descent into the ancestral valley of Karchung.
Day 4: The Sacred Heights – From Dhap Lake to Ama Yangri and Descent to Karchung

Day 5: Descent Through the Valleys
“Deep Rivers and Timeless Canyons”
From Yolmo to the depths of the Bhote Koshi, where the waters sing and the mountains open.
Day 5: Descent through the Valleys – From Yolmo to the Canyons of Tatopani
We begin the day in Karchung, and if we haven’t visited Milarepa’s cave yet, we do so now. It’s a place of retreat and spiritual power, where the echo of the master still seems to dwell among the rocks.
After the visit and breakfast, we embark on one of the longest and most beautiful journeys of the route: the trip to Tatopani, where the breathtaking landscape of the Bhote Koshi river canyon awaits us.
The Route:
Karchung → Melamchi → Barhabise → Tatopani
Estimated driving time: 6–7 hours
Roads: mountain dirt and gravel sections, then paved road along the Friendship Highway

Arrival in Tatopani
We arrive in the afternoon at a high-end lodge surrounded by tropical nature, palm trees, gardens, and cliffs.
The rooms are comfortable and well-equipped, and dinner is served in a relaxed setting, with local and international options. The sound of the river will accompany our rest.

Day 6: Toward Jiri or Shivalei
“Curves of Time and Himalayan Horizons”

Through jungles, terraces, and legends, we journey toward villages that guard ancient memory.

The Route:
Tatopani → Barhabise → Lamosangu → Dolalghat → Jiri or Shivalei
6–8 hours
Roads: mostly paved but with sharp curves and narrow areas,
Altitude: from ≈1790
The scenery changes constantly: subtropical jungles, river gorges, agricultural terraces, and mountain passes. We have lunch en route, perhaps in Lamosangu or Dolalghat, and continue until we arrive before sunset.
Overnight in Jiri or Shivalei
We stay in a quiet guesthouse with views of the hills, ideal for disconnecting and preparing for the next stage. Homemade dinner and deep rest.
Day 7: Heading to Pathale
“Solu: The Green Pulse of the South”
Rural roads through living villages and the Everest Best views where the earth breathes and the gaze softens.
Day 7: From Jiri/Shivalei to Pathale – Green Heart of Solu
Today we head south, entering the Solu region, with its gentle hills, hidden villages, and cultivated fields.
The Route:
Jiri/Shivalei → Pathale
5–6 hours
Roads: mix of asphalt and rural tracks, soft curves, and open landscapes
Altitude: descent from ≈1,790 m to
≈2,900 m aprox
Along the way, we’ll see Tamang villages, grazing buffaloes, waving children, and endless rice fields. The pace is gentle, and the soul settles into stillness.

We then descend to Panauti, a treasure of Newar architecture and spirituality. Here we can stroll, enjoy a tea, or simply absorb the atmosphere.
At the end of the day, we ascend to Nagarkot, where a high-end resort awaits us, surrounded by forest and —weather permitting— with views reaching as far as Everest.
